Senior Manager, Technology Education Responsibilities Maintains a high profile and makes available the training resources in support of firm wide, customer-impacting initiatives. Leads the trainers to work closely with customers, understand the user perspective and be an advocate for them in significant new technology initiatives. Ensures that the training department maintains it’s position as a strategic resource in all Information Technology initiatives. Manages the technical trainers and provides them with guidance. Involves the trainers in various local and firm wide initiatives. Develops the training staff to be a firm wide resource, using various technical resources such as web meetings and video conferences. Creates a learning and development strategic plan for the firm’s training function that provides for future growth and technological advancements. Supports the firm's business priorities, key human resources initiatives, and competencies management. Assists in promoting and communicating the Firm's learning and development philosophy. Works closely with Attorney Development and Human Resources on training initiatives. Serves as one of the core team members of the professional development task force and actively participates in all training initiatives. Develops training programs that are creative, energetic and engaging on a firm wide basis. Is responsible for managing, either directly or through others, the implementation and integration of high quality training programs to meet the firm’s needs. Researches, evaluates and recommends training options to legal and non-legal staff based on their particular business needs. Develops standard IT certification courses using both in-house and vendor resources. Creates training plans and develops a tracking system. Meets regularly with employees to check progress and makes suggestions that will encourage skills development and growth overall. In collaboration with the project management team and/or areas within IT, works with user groups to identify and develop solutions to their training and software needs. Establishes and maintains extensive internal contacts at all levels to understand user requirements and needs. Recommends, develops, implements and communicates training solutions to users and IT staff. Develops clear and comprehensive communications plans for important initiatives. Works with other administrative groups to ensure that sufficient time and resources are devoted to training in all hiring and development initiatives Works closely with IT Department members to research, evaluate and implement new software products. Learns the products, tests them in both pilot and production environments in order to makes recommendations that will benefit the users. Participates in the selection and customization of software and in the testing of new products. Investigates and recommends new products and product upgrades for applications. Manages special projects such as major rollouts and merger-related activities. Creates and delivers customized courses, focus group and road shows for new technologies. Creates and Manages the development of e-learning software modules. Leads effort to create firm e-learning course library. Oversees the creation of documentation for IT products and ensure the maintenance of computer application training documentation and related training materials. Utilizes a team approach to problem solving and project management within the Training group, and establishes positive relationships with other IT groups across the Firm. Assumes responsibility for firm-wide training staff teambuilding and communication between offices to ensure all team members are following all established procedures. Conducts regularly scheduled department meetings. Assumes additional responsibilities as requested. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in a related field, or equivalent technical knowledge. 8+ years of experience including 3+ years of management experience in a technical education in a professional services environment. Excellent presentation skills and extensive experience delivering training programs in a range of environments including classroom training, demos and one-on-one classes. Excellent writing skills and experience developing e-learning training materials and documentation in a variety of formats. Thorough command of the industry language and the ability to effectively communicate technical information to a variety of technical and non-technical users. Strong working knowledge of basic operations of desktop computers, laptops, and general networking concepts. Thorough working knowledge of the Firm's standard computer applications including the Microsoft Suite of products, word processing, graphics, databases, electronic mail, calendaring, document management systems and general office productivity tools in a Windows environment. Excellent project management, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills; ability to delegate and manage resources effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong customer service orientation towards internal and external clients; proven ability to work with all learning styles and personality types, and interact with all levels of management, staff and external entities in a highly effective and professional manner.
