Data Analyst

Responsibilities:
This position will participate in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of an on-going enterprise-wide Data Factory program. The primary responsibilities will center on data analysis in support of business data requirements definition, user acceptance testing and training activities. This candidate will lead these activities and work closely with the Data Architects and Data Integration Developers to translate the requirements into technical data specifications.
The Data Analyst will be one of the primary interfaces between the Business and the Data Services Group. As a result, they will be involved in all activities that impact the business users who are consumers of the data provided by the Data Factory.

Additional responsibilities include:
Gather, validate and document data requirements down to the column level, in direct support of business requirements and priorities for specific data-driven and Data Factory related projects.
Assist in the translation of business data requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
Serve as a liaison between the Data Services Group and business stakeholders.
Identification of data sources for the required data attributes.
Creating data maps to document data attributes to data sources and also data targets, including identification and documentation of data transformation algorithms as necessary.
Identifying and documenting data standardizations to be performed, data enrichment operations, data validations, data security requirements, and data exception handling processes
Help drive enforcement of Data Council data entity definitions
Maintain current knowledge of data relationships and system interfaces.
Assist in knowledge transfer to other technical staff members on business data processes.
Assist in on-going evaluation of current and new business data requirements to achieve higher operational efficiencies and project portfolio alignment.
Evaluate potential expansion projects, provide data requirements and design for new releases, as necessary.

Required Skills and Competencies:
5 years of IT or equivalent experience including 3-5 years involvement in data warehousing projects.
Bachelor*s degree, preferably in Computer Science.
Experience in identifying and documenting business requirements in a data warehouse environment.
Experience with master data management concepts and practices
Experience with metadata management practices
Experience with Agile development methods
Experience in JAD (joint application design) facilitation or other requirements gathering techniques.
Experience in developing and conducting training.
Working knowledge of data quality management principles and best practices
Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Experience in development implementations, data modeling or data mapping efforts
Experience in the use of industry architecture and modeling tools
Strong analytical, organizational, verbal communication, business writing, and project management skills.
Knowledge of relational databases, data queries, and reports.
Experience with Cognos or other query and reporting tools.
Knowledge of data provisioning applying various methods including, Web Services, data views, data exports, reports, etc...
Knowledge of the Health & Life Sciences industry is a plus.
