We are looking for a Lead UNIX Systems Administrator (HPUX, Red Hat LINUX). This is a permanent (possible contract to hire) position with a client in Denver, CO.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
· Our client is seeking an experienced, well rounded professional to lead our UNIX Systems Administration Team. This team is responsible for maintaining current UNIX environment. This is a fast paced exciting position that will allow an individual to work in a state-of-the-art computing environment while growing personally, professionally, and technically.
· Additionally, this individual will be responsible in leading the transition from UNIX to Windows.
· Candidate must possess strong experience with HPUX, Red Hat LINUX and a desire to move these systems to Windows. Strong working knowledge of Cayenta Financials is also recommended.
· Work collaboratively with customers, stakeholders, managers, vendors, and technology team members to define and execute IT projects that meet customer objectives on time and within budget.
· Assume primary responsibility for project coordination and communication on all assigned programs or projects including development and monitoring of project charters, plans, work breakdown schedules, milestone and status reports, resource plans, budgets, and other deliverables.
· Identify, track, and resolve issues and risks associated with projects or programs managed. Communicate risks and issues regularly to project team and stakeholders, including executive stakeholders.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
· Minimum of five years of experience in UNIX administration work, of which two years or more should be in a lead role. Primary UNIX administration experience should be with HPUX and Red Hat LINUX. Additional experience involving administrative responsibility particularly in Cayenta Financials and Oracle is desirable.
· Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycles and Project Management Methodologies.
· Must be a proven leader with extensive experience in team building, communication, planning, and organizational skills.
· Background in large corporate systems administration strongly is preferred.
· Broad knowledge of computer systems and administrative functions and methods is required.
· Experience in designing, implementing and running highly reliable, highly available systems is required.
· Experience working successfully with fellow technical personnel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Lead a team of UNIX administrators that are responsible for the installation and maintenance of UNIX servers (including storage) and for maintaining a stable and responsible UNIX environment for production, test and development.
· Provide customers/end users with hands on, online, and telephone support in an efficient and timely manner.
· Provide highly reliable, highly available, and highly cost efficient UNIX servers and central infrastructure support.
· Ensure UNIX services are delivered in a timely fashion in accordance with the internal and external SLA's.
· Provide proficiency in "High End" implementations of HPUX, LINUX and Oracle.
· Provide technical and customer "Bridging Services" between Windows Enterprise, Database Administration, the Data Warehouse team and UNIX Administration.
· Provide leadership to the other UNIX administrator team members.
· Provide problem identification and resolution expertise for the UNIX servers and related services.
· Assist in the development and implementation of new data processing techniques, software packages and equipment as directed by the Manager of Database and Systems Administration.
· Monitor ongoing systems, application and software operations.
· Write UNIX scripts and SQL statements as necessary.
· Work with hardware and software vendors to address issues and resolve problems.
· Ensure appropriate systems backups, standard recovery processes, and disaster recovery procedures are in place and highly reliable.
· Plan, implement and participate in the department’s disaster recovery system.
· Develop and maintain all related documentation to support job functions.
· Budget tracking responsibility for team.
· Provide feedback to team member’s manager on project performance for employee performance appraisals.
