We are looking for a Quality Assurance Analyst. This is a 6 month contract-to-hire position with a food and beverage company in Denver, CO. Position Summary Organize, manage and execute the project quality assurance activities, tasks and processes for new systems and system modifications by preparing and executing project quality assurance test plans, test scripts, task estimation, and organizing appropriate level of testing with users and technical support staff. The QA Systems Analyst identifies defects in deliverables, across the project life cycle, prior to deployment in order to deliver a quality product. • Identify areas affected by a change request and author test plans that consist of scope, strategy, approach and execution. • Validate functional requirements and generate a requirements traceability matrix. • Create and execute test scripts to satisfy requirements traceability. • Track defects by identifying, dating, documenting and resolving the defect found and determining trend analysis while developing mitigation strategies. • Manage activities associated with resolving problems, analyze results, determine corrective actions and report results to appropriate parties. • Ability to take direction and then work independently or with a Team as required. • Proactively keep Management apprised of status, issues and risks. • Conduct Peer Reviews with Users and Developers for completeness of Unit, System and User Acceptance Testing. • Assist users in preparing, conducting and evaluating results of User Acceptance Testing. • Identify, streamline and improve QA and SDLC processes. Assist in the creation of Departmental quality standards, policies, procedures, templates and reference library. • Assist in developing documentation and training examples for system changes or upgrades. • Adhere to and identify quality standards for IS projects and activities. • Continually work towards best practices. • Responsible for other duties as assigned or developed. • Proactive, independent, strong work ethic. • Thorough, quality focus. Required/Preferred Education: • Four year college degree, preferably in related area Years of Experience Preferred/Required: • 5-7 years experience in multiple technology projects for various functional business units. • Years experience can be replaced by size and magnitude of technology participation. Other Requirements: • Preference is background in food & beverage industry, retail or consulting • Experience with various development methodologies, techniques, and tools • Experience using quality assurance tools, such as HP Quality Center • Strong experience in custom development, third-party implementations, service oriented architecture and the software development lifecycle • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Multitasking and defining units of work that can be effectively tracked and measured • Planning and organization skills • Strong relationship skills with developers, analysts, project managers and business users • Creativity and innovation Software Utilized: • Mercury (HP) Test tools (Quality Center, Quick Test Pro, Load Runner) • Open Source test tools (Selenium, Watir, SoapUI) • Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL) • Experience testing .NET and Java applications • Preferably experience with MOSS No direct line management responsibilities are required; however, the ability to lead and build consensus is critical.
